竹巴袞列(བྲུག་པ་ཀུནལེགས།)是約600年前，出生於位今西藏熱龍鄉的藏族，其一生足跡遍及於當時前藏、後藏，及南方的門、珞(約現今不丹)地區，以瘋行著稱。其瘋癲行，比之漢地的濟公，有過之而無不及。由於其醒世瘋行與道歌，詼諧又有寓意，藏傳佛教各派法王、上師，常於講經說法時引用，提升學習者聽經印象與「笑」果。

我們花了兩年的時間，翻譯第69代不丹國師，傑堪布給敦仁千大師的藏文原著，反復考訂原著內容資料，將書中所涉不丹、與西藏地名遺址，古今對照，附於註解中。最後走訪竹巴袞列的故鄉，也是竹巴噶舉的祖寺－－熱龍寺，經允許拍攝該寺所藏竹巴袞列像。這部世界第一本漢譯，有豐富詳細之藏漢對照註解的《竹巴袞列傳》，於焉完成。

從不丹西起帕羅河谷，東至蒙加爾，竹巴袞列的遺跡與傳說，至今遍布，為人所津津樂道。在幸福國度不丹旅遊，沿途可見的飛天陽具圖騰，及國寶神獸四不像，都是源自於瘋聖竹巴袞列。不丹國民視其為不丹國的先聖之一，地位有比漢族至聖先師，藏族尊其為三大瘋聖之一。乍愚乍智，遊戲三昧，啼笑皆非。其人到底如何佯瘋度化眾生，且讓本書說分明。

果倉巴(rGod Tsang Pa 1189-1258AD)非神話人物，是竹巴噶舉之上竹巴派創始人。他遵循上師臧巴甲紝(竹巴噶舉開宗祖師及第一世竹千法王)咐囑，一生依於山間石窟，苦修成就，亦如密勒日巴般，以道歌轉化凡塵。果倉巴的行腳，遍及前、後藏、阿里，以及北印度重要的勝樂24空行聖地，並留下珍貴沿途巡禮記錄。果倉巴密咐自述為密勒日巴轉世化身，能記憶前世與上師馬爾巴之行誼，另外再加上果倉巴十六章傳記版與道歌全集，為《密勒日巴傳與道歌集》作者藏瘋嘿汝嘎之入室四大弟子之一，靈之尊甫．值大盡捷(1473-1557AD)所蒐編雕版，故信當非虛言。本書之藏文原文道歌，文筆流暢，風格與《密勒日巴道歌》類似，喜愛《密勒日巴傳與道歌集》的讀者，誠心推薦收藏細品本書，快得法利。
